It astonishes me how easy it is to lose sight of the greatness of all
people – how little effort it takes to fall into thinking of some people as
inconsequential or full of flaws. It’s
like standing at the rim of the Grand Canyon and saying it's defective for some
silly reason or other. Each person who appears in my life today is as grand as
the grandest of all canyons, if only I’m not blind to the beauty. I need to
know the difference between ordinariness and magnificence, and make sure I look
for the latter in the people I’ll be lucky to have in my life today.
